Hello from the Beros (written from the perspective of Jimmy)
Jimmy and Brianna here. We are so excited to be going on this trip, each for the fourth time. But while all those experiences have been life changing for us, we are particularly excited about the family of students and adult leaders that we get to share this adventure with this year.
Our lives have been crazy over the last year! We got married about ten months ago. It was, in our completely and totally unbiased opinion, the greatest wedding to ever happen. Here’s a picture of us on an oversized chair on our wedding day, because oversized things are hilarious.
Here are some other things we have done over the past year that will help you get to know us better:
- For our honeymoon we went to Seattle, where we stayed in a treehouse in the Puget Sound. #Adventure
- We camped out in a Chik-Fil-A Parking lot for the grand opening which took place in January… in Wisconsin. This risk of our health resulted in a total of 104 free #1 combos, which equates to $674.96 in food. That’s the kind of dedication and commitment we bring to this team.
- In February, we visited Belize together. Brianna spent 3 months in Belize taking discipleship training classes through YWAM a couple years ago. It was amazing to experience that piece of her life together.
- I (Jimmy) have participated in a few pun competitions, winning one of them. Did you hear about the new festival in Italy to celebrate their former empire? It’s called Rome-mania! (Get it? Cuz we’re going to Romania?!?)
- Brianna has been the director of Madison Missions, a local missions trip in our city for Middle Schoolers. This year there are five separate weeks in which almost 300 students are participating. God has grown and blessed this ministry and it has been so awesome to see how the lives of young people are changed through serving and having fun at Madison Missions.
Well, that’s about it for now. We can’t say thank you enough for how grateful we are for the support we get from all of you who follow this blog and have supported the trip through donations and prayer. God is doing something special in Romania through this partnership with Open Roads. I encourage you to read stories from previous years in preparation for all the posts coming your way over the next few weeks.
Jimmy & Brianna, breaking free from the tyranny of including our middle names

Jimmy and Brianna – thank you for your leadership on this trip. I will be praying for you and everyone else on the trip throughout the trip. BTW, Jimmy, did you hear about the crazy paddling competition on Lake Mendota today? You know what it was called – Rowmania!
Have a great trip. Can’t wait to hear all about it when you return.
Tom
