Prompt: A short bio of who you are
A thought process –
Ugh. I hate writing about myself. What am I supposed to say beyond, my name is Nikki, this is my first time going to Romania, and I’m going to be a junior next year at Middleton? Is there any other way to do this…?
Something witty and smart… like a section of a non-existent research paper?
Give them an excerpt from “If I’m Helpful, Maybe They Won’t Send Me to Antarctica: A Study in Family/Group Dynamics” by Nikki Yu (aforementioned non-existent research paper)
Write an abstract? Hmm, I should have started that a couple days ago.
Write a bio using just song lyrics
Kinda cool, I have quite the variety of song on my ipod (mostly 70s to 90s pop. Thanks parental units!)
But wait, I’d have to explain each song I use and I’d still be writing this on the plane to Romania.
Outsource the brainstorming and writing to my sister
Hmmm… that’s not a bad idea. She likes writing way more than I do and she’s actually good at it.
But, this could contribute to the bafflingly persistent difficulty people have in telling us apart, so maybe not.
I doubt she’d even do it, never mind.
Let my cat walk back and forth on the keyboard
List all the ideas I had for a bio in the order that I had them
Cons: too short
Pros: hey look, I’m done
Hello everyone! I’m Kip and I’m going to be a senior this year at Middleton High School. I’m a huge fan of sports, and I enjoy playing golf and basketball. I also love listening to music, like I could basically listen all day and not get bored. I don’t know how to actually play any instruments, so it’s a bit weird how that works out. Some random facts about me include:
* I have a twin brother who looks very different from me
* I have had upwards of 13 cavities (yes I do brush my teeth)
* Oranges are easily my favorite food.
In regards to the trip, this is my second time going to Romania and I am indescribably excited. I’ve seen God do amazing things through the ministry we’re partnering with (Open Roads) last year and I can’t wait to see what He has in store this year. I am so excited to be able to create new relationships and also continue the ones I created last year.
During the two weeks that we are gone, prayers from you guys are extremely helpful. Please pray that we as a team can find what our purpose is in Romania and that we can stay present so that we can hear God’s voice.
Thank you so much for reading my little addition to the blog, and feel free to comment on any of our blogs throughout the trip!
My name is Luke Stevens, but I may be referred to as Sweeney, Weenies, Pukas, or even Stormy. This is my second time on this amazing trip and I’m so excited to be going back.
Same as last year, I am the sole representative of Waunakee high school on this team. Actually, I just graduated high school in June and am off to Taylor University this fall! It is a small school in the middle of the corn field widely known for it’s Silent Night tradition (look it up).
Important things to know about me are that I enjoy all food and most music. Most of my nights include driving around and listening to music. I love hiking, hammocking, swimming, reading Harry Potter and watching superhero movies. If you have any questions about the greater MCU or HP worlds, I’m your guy because I’ve studied them more than I should admit. I also enjoy sushi, lacrosse, Kipp, guitar, How I met you mother, New Girl, and more.
Anywho thanks for reading about me and the other posts on here!
Hi friends! My name is Leah and I am going to be a Senior at Memorial high school next year. This year I am blessed with the opportunity of returning to Romania for a second time! I can’t wait to catch up with all the Romanian students and leaders from last year, as well as beginning to build new relationships. God used this trip to develop my faith is big ways last year and I am both anxious and ecstatic to see all he does this year. Please pray that I would be on the lookout for the ways God is going to work on the trip and that I would ground myself in his Presence.
While I’m sure Romania will be the highlight of my summer, I have been keeping plenty busy with lots of fun things so far. I have been running cross country in attempts to get back into shape after a long off season, nannying two awesome kids, reading Harry Potter, hammocking, leading worship for Madison Missions, and spending lots of time with friends. Other things I enjoy include (but are not limited to) ukulele, singing, musical theater, Kipp, forensics speech, ultimate frisbee, Stranger Things, and mac and cheese.
Thanks for reading the blog and stay posted throughout our trip!
My name is Cade and I will be a senior at Middleton high school next year. I am very excited to be going to Romania for the second time this year. Some things about me are that I play the trombone, I work at Pick n Save, I enjoy Kip and I like listening to the music of Taylor Swift.
Hi everyone!! My name is Isabel and I am going to be a junior next year at Middleton High School. I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to go on this trip, as this will be my first year making the journey to Romania. I did however go to Joplin MO last year, where I helped build a pavilion for the local church. I have heard nothing but positive things about this trip, and how it will impact me. I am really looking forward to see what God has in store for our team.
Here’s a few things about me, I have a 2 year old dog that I am absolutely obsessed with. Her name is Luna. I would tell you her breed but that’s a mystery, she’s a rescue, but if I had to guess maybe beagle boston terroir? In my free time I love spending time with my family and friends. I’ve also managed to teach myself how to play ukulele in the past couple of months so that’s pretty cool. In the winter I do gymnastics for my school’s team. My favorite event is balance beam.
I’m very excited to be able to share this journey with you! Thank your for all the love, support and prayers!
My name is Julian and I will be a senior at Middleton High School next year! I am really excited to return back to Romania as this will be my second time going there. As well I am also a part of Servant Team and Home Groups through Blackhawk and spend a couple weeks of my summer evening fun and co leading with Madison Missions. Outside of Blackhawk, I enjoy playing badminton (specifically no decimals mode), working on the batcave (I designed the animal and food farms, the aquarium and the villager trading hall) with the “wolfpacc!”, playing violin and listening to classical music. If you are in need of a suggestion I would recommend Mahler Symphony No. 2 “Ressurection”, it is quite a masterpiece, as for concertos Beethoven Violin Concerto is quickly topping my list of favorites (Hilary Hahn’s recording specifically). Regarding chamber music (probably the music I am the least familiar with) would be Alexander Borodin’s String Quartet No. 2. Altogether, stick with Romantic or Classical, and stray away from Baroque (unless of course it’s Vivaldi, Corelli or Locatelli), that stuff is enclaas. I also enjoy hanging out with Kipp.
