Team Retreat

Hey everyone!

This past weekend the 2013 Romania Team had the chance to get away together for a fun retreat in Lodi, Wisconsin.

This weekend was packed from start to finish with memorable moments and I saw God so present. I think I speak for everyone on the team when I say that it was a bonding and learning experience that will definitely help us on the big adventure this summer.

We spent lots of time doing trip preparation as a team which was really fun and educational. We watched movies on the culture/history, discussed packing and the trip agenda, and skyped with Daniel, the director of Open Roads Orphan Ministry in Romania. That was my personal favorite. He was such an energetic and enthusiastic leader (even at 11:00pm his time!). Again,  I speak for the entire team when I say that his passion was contagious. It still seems crazy that we’re going to be there working alongside such an awesome ministry in less than two months!

Besides the trip prep, we also carved out some time for team bonding and random shenanigans. Intense games of Pick Up Sticks, singing/jam out sessions, delicious food fests and a bonfire were a few of them. I think we all came away from the weekend pretty psyched about traveling to Romania this summer in such a fabulous group of individuals. My fantastic teammate and friend Kira told me that she noticed that, although it seems every member of our team has their own significant and unique personality, all of them compliment one another in the framework of our team. That’s a God-Sighting if I ever saw one!

Although our trip is only about two months away, we still have lots of work between now and departure time. As you might guess, raising support is the biggest issue at this point. All of us are searching for new and creative ways to raise funds and our great team logistics leader Larry is lining up work projects. Please be praying for us as we strive to meet our goal. (If you want more info on how to support our team, read the previous blog post, here.) A prayer and support system are hugely important for this trip, as 1st Corinthians 12:12 says, “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” We are ALL part of the body of Christ. Our mission to go to Romania and yours is to pray us through it. Both are just as important as the other!
